What is Sodium Thiosulphate ?
Chemical properties colorless monoclinic crystal system. Odorless, with a cool and bitter taste. Soluble in water, water solution is nearly neutral. Soluble in turpentine . Insoluble in alcohol. It is used as a dechlorination agent after bleaching of pulp and cotton fabrics, as a chelating agent and antioxidant in food industry, and as a detergent and disinfectant in pharmaceutical industry |
Function of Sodium Thiosulphate
Used for dehydrochlorination , syngas, hydrogen nitrogen and other gases to protect the downstream catalyst from poisoning. If the gas contains organochlorine, it should be converted to hydrogen chloride by a cobalt-molybdenum hydrogenation catalyst before the hydrogen chloride is absorbed by a dechlorination agent.
Application of Sodium Thiosulphate
Photosensitive industry used as a photographic fixer. Used in paper industry as a dechlorinator after bleaching of pulp. Used in printing and dyeing industry as dechlorination agent for bleaching cotton fabrics. Reagent for chromatographic layer analysis and volume analysis in analytical chemistry. It is used as detergent and disinfectant in medicine. Food industry used as chelating agent, antioxidant and so on.
