Function of Sugammadex Sodium
By forming a complex in plasma with the neuromuscular blocking drugs rocuronium or vecuronium, which in turn reduces the amount of neuromuscular blocking drugs that bind to nicotinic receptors at the neuromuscular junction, thereby antagonizing the effects of Rocuronium- or vecuronium-induced neuromuscular blockade.
Sugammadex sodium is a selective muscle relaxant, which is mainly used for muscle spasm diseases and hypertonia diseases.
Sugammadex sodium plays this role because of its γ-cyclodextrin molecular structure, which can form a complex with rocuronium bromide to reduce the free drug concentration in the blood, thereby reversing the neuromuscular blocking effect of rocuronium bromide
