Function of Bepotastine Besilate
1. Bepotastine is a histamine H1 receptor anatagonist. Bepotastine suppresses some allergic inflammatory processes such as allergic rhinitis, chronic urticaria or pruritus associated with skin conditions (eczema/dermatitis, prurigo or pruritus cutaneus).
2. Bepotastine is a non-sedating, selective antagonist of histamine 1 (H1) receptor with pIC50 of 5.7
3. An antifungal agent, benzbetostine is a potent and long-acting histamine H1 receptor antagonist with platelet-activating factor (PAF) antagonist-like effects; experiments with human peripheral blood mononuclear cells suggest that the anti-allergic effect of this compound may be related to interleukin-5 mediation; benzbetostine rapidly and effectively suppresses the three main symptoms of allergic rhinitis: sneezing, runny nose and nasal congestion.
