What is Amphotericin B? Amphotericin B, also known as Lushanmycin, is a polyene antifungal antibiotic isolated from the culture medium of Streptomyces nodosus.

Function of Amphotericin B

The molecular composition of amphotericin B is a compound containing 7 pairs of conjugated double bonds. The macrolide is used as a ligand and a deoxyaminohexose of trehalosamine (mycosamine) is used as a sugar group, which is connected by a glycosidic bond. Because there is an amino group and a carboxyl group in the structure, it is an amphoteric substance.
